"Cities have more of the image of God per square inch than any other place on earth."

-Tim Keller

"One could say that part of the task is to help the body of Christ find the lines of intersection, define the points of tension, discern the trajectories of implication, and chart a course for faithful practice going forward."

-James K. A. Smith

Polis is the Greek word for city or body of citizens. Polis Recovery Project is a community-based counseling ministry founded upon the person and work of Christ, empowered by the Spirit and rooted in the wisdom of Scripture. We serve as a trusted, Christ-centered counseling resource for local churches and their communities functioning as a bridge between local church communities and the mental health sphere by intersecting spiritual formation with pastoral psychology. Polis provides quality, distinctively Christian counseling services to help people heal and grow. We view the counseling process as a collaborative, explorative journey in “self-awareness, story and relationships” in Christ (DeGroat). We approach counseling as culturally contextualized, theological fieldwork, and an opportunity to serve as a conduit to equip and empower churches to develop a culture of safety and transformation in their communities. This collaborative Kingdom work is just a small part of the restorative social architecture intrinsic to the renewal of God's polis.

"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea..." -Antoine de Saint Exupery "And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all." 1 Thessalonians 5:14

Donate to polis recovery project

Polis is a 501c3 nonprofit organization financially supported through the charitable giving of individuals, families and churches, who believe in the vitality, wisdom and Kingdom impact of Christian counseling. As a nonprofit organization, we strive to make resources available to all people, so that finances are not a barrier in seeking help. In order to sustain the viability of the ministry, the suggested rate of donation per session is $75. Some give more or less, and others are supported by their family and/or local church. Polis gives away 5% of all donations to support church planting.
